The Night Stones are devices created by the Drevril with the primary purpose of bringing chaos to Jevreth and corrupting Men.
Creation
It is currently unknown how, or when, the Night Stones were created. The first Night Stone was cast down to Althas before the recording of time.
Composition
The Night Stones that have been discovered are made of various gem-like materials (ones that are alien to Althas and Dritameshi).
Avatar
Every Night Stone contains a single Avatar. The avatar is an "artificial intelligence" that is created with varying goals and levels of aptitude between them.
Some are fairly simple in their role and possess little intelligence (such as the Nomshethairos Stones), while others can be as complex to the point of communicating and corrupting mankind (such as the Thrandole's Stone).
Known Night Stones
This is a listing of documented Night Stones that have been found, their powers, where they were found, and what they fulfilled:
Name | Powers | Current Location | History |
---|---|---|---|
The Dominion Stone
(named after the kingdom that the Stone influenced the creation of) |
The avatar of this stone is a master of deception. Envious of Man, it seeks to destroy Men through their own Pride in themselves. | N/A, the stone was destroyed. |
... |
The Nomshethairos Stones
(named after the Nomshethairos they create) |
No avatar exists within these stones. It only seeks to corrupt nature around them. These stones have little effect on Man, but does on the beasts of Nature. | Some are destroyed, but some continue to pop up every once in awhile. |
... |
Thrandole's Stone, sometimes known as the Calling Stone
(named after King Thrandole; named after the fact that it calls Nomshethairos created by the previous set of Night Stones) |
Calls beasts to it, and heightens the user's ability to lead, but drives a Man's desire for power in the process. | Location unknown. |
|
Basech Stone
(Basech means "Dark" in Noralar) |
The avatar of this stone is a master of deception. Prideful, it seeks the worship of itself. | One of the Esheliros Basech. |
|
Shûvrall Stone
(Shûvrall means "Sunrise" in Noralar, based on the name where it was found, the Esheliros Shûvrall) |
The avatar is nothing but lies: it will promise its bearer all their desires, but will fulfill none of them. The greater the desires of the bearer, the greater the potential for self-harm to him/herself. | N/A, the stone was destroyed. |
|
Téafor Stone
(named after Téafor) |
The avatar of this stone enhances the abilities of it's user. | Lambitelor capital island, near Lambitelor capital city. |
