Maelan is a language created by the Men of Jevreth.

History

Around 416 MA, the language of Maelan begins to overtake Noralar as the language of the Althas people. Maelan is considered less complicated than Noralar and thus draws the more common people to its use.

By 515 MA, the Maelan language has evolved from its inception nearly 100 year prior. The more common, modern version of the language becomes known as Maelan. The precursor version of the language becomes known as Old Maelan.

After the War of Calamities (1076 MA and onwards), the survivors of the fallen Anointed kingdoms (their lands having become what is called "The Feralands") diminish in their usage of Noralar and Old Maelan (not only as spoken tongues, but also as naming conventions). Thus Maelean becomes the common naming convention for those in The Feralands.

History

In 416 MA, the language of Maelan is created in Althas (although it is quite different from what it will become).

By 515 MA, the Maelan language has evolved from its inception nearly 100 year prior. The more common, modern version of the language comes known as Maelan. The former, older version of the language becomes known as Old Maelan.

After the War of Calamities (1076 MA and onwards), the survivors of the fallen Anointed kingdoms (their lands become what is called "The Feralands") diminish in their usage of Noralar and Old Maelan (not only as spoken tongues, but also as naming conventions). Thus Maelean becomes the common naming convention for those in The Feralands.
