Althas is one of the two main continents of Jevreth.
The meaning of the word Althas is "Altar" in Noralar.
History
The name "Althas" has its earliest origins in one of the first true sermons of the Diasairs. It was early in the history of the Kingdoms that many people began to criticize those who did not make pilgrimages and prayers at the seven "holy" places (the places where each of the seven people awoke). The Diasair rebuked them:
"But thus saith Driomi, The One: Why do you condemn your brothers? If he journeys not to holy places and yet you do, what advantage do you gain? Do you not know that my eyes and ears are in every place, to see the suffering of those who call to me and to hear their prayers? Do you think that I dwell only in holy places, exalted by the words of men? Nay, for I say to you that all of Ethesh are given to me for a habitation, and I am in every place. And behold, all the lands are the altar of my praise and this world have I given you as a gift, that you may know my glory."
And so the people called the lands Althas, which is "Altar" in Noralar, and the world they called "Jevreth," for it was said to be a gift to men.
