Téafor was a jevrethor known best for causing the Fall of Lambitelor and the War of Calamities, effectively ending the Mythical Age.

Téafor means "Vermillion" in Old Maelan.

History

Birth and Early Life

Téafor, a jevrethor, was born in 1023 MA in Lambitelor. Growing up in a period of anti-jevrethor prejudice, Téafor suffered years of abuse and persecution.

Fall of Lambitelor

In 1039 MA, a sixteen year old Téafor discovers a Night Stone which enticed him to attack his oppressors in Lambitelor. With his powers augmented by the Stone, Téafor launched an assault on the capital island. With most of the najiros in the service of Lambitelor stationed along the coasts to the north and south, the capital was left almost defenseless against Téafor’s assault.

Téafor set fire to the fields and then the capital city, quickly disposing of the few najiros protectors. After razing the southern portion of the city and killing everyone he encountered, he attacked the royal citadel, killing the King and The Vanguard and Vasomi agents within.

With the fires in the southern portion of the city spreading, Téafor exited beyond the northern wall, setting fire to the fields around the city and then making his way away from the city. Reinforcements arrived too late at the southern end.

Rise to Power

After disappearing into the population of the mainland, Téafor begins to move among the hidden jevrethor populations around Althas and gathers followers among many who have suffered persecution. Some resist his message, but many join in his cause. By 1043 MA, Téafor’s name is renowned among many jevrethor throughout Althas, but what he did in Lambitelor is not connected to him. The Vanguard learn of him from jevrethor that come to join The Vanguard's ranks.

Téafor also has many agents (both jevrethor and other najiros) who infiltrate The Vanguard and the Academy at Gorandel.

By 1052 MA, Téafor’s message has spread among many jevrethor and najiros (many of the latter worship the jevrethor as divinely chosen beings). This causes fear among the various kingdoms and The Academy at Gorandel develops weapons that can be used against the jevrethor and their powers. In particular, the Academy in Gorandel creates delavresi. Téafor’s agents in the Academy begin to discretely copy the recipe and give it amongst his followers. Téafor then orders that the delavresi be produced in large quantities, as many as possible.

Two years later, Téafor gathers all five of his companions, where they begin planning for the destruction of the Anointed kingdoms. Each companion is given a Night Stone. Téafor and his five companions will become known as the Six Sorcerers in the War of Calamities.
