Kingsword is a language created by the Men of Jevreth.
Kingsword comes from a combination of the words "King's" and "Word", as it is a naming convention used for the names of kings.
In 416 MA, the Anointed Kings decide that, with Noralar’s decline, they should create a new naming convention that would create names, based on the early Maelan language (which would later become known as Old Maelan), for them and their heirs. The new, loose system is named Kingsword. This Maelan-inspired system gains popularity over time and overtakes Noralar as the main naming convention of those of the Anointed lines.
Not all in the Anointed line of Kings follow the Kingsword naming conventions however. Some will still use Noralar and even Old Maelan.
Unrelated to Lore: The following is information that is unrelated to Althas lore.
Their is no true "formal" system to the Kingsword naming conventions. A Kingsword name is simply an English word with a few characters moved around or taken out.
In the context of the Althas setting, it is simply explained that the mechanics to the Kingsword's language and naming conventions are a secret kept only to the Anointed lines.
