The Mythical Age (MA)

This is a detailed account of the events that have taken place within Althas during the Mythical Age. This Age follows the Gorandel kingdom's Calendar System.

The abbreviation MA stands for "Mythical Age".

The Fall of The Dominion

  • 0 MA: The counting of years began in what is now known as the Anointed Calendar was devised by the Gorandel kingdom. [1]
  • 20 MA: Around this time was the first recorded death of old age.
  • 85-90 MA, The Breaking of The Dominion: The tension between the seven remaining Tribes reached its apex, with The Dominion teetering on the brink of a massive civil war. [3]
    • Mellendil called on Losdejim to divide the Seven Tribes from each other. Each tribe would be sent to a new land to settle, with Mellendil revealing that land, and the path to it, to Losdejim.
    • Losdejim divided the tribes and chose an Elder from each. The Tribes then set out, led by their Elders, for their new lands. [4]

The Anointed Kingdoms

  • 150 MA: All of the Seven Tribes settled in their new lands and established their domains. [5]
    • The Drevril were enraged by the peace made between the Seven Tribes. They created a new set of Night Stones, designed purely for chaos, so that they may destroy these new settlements. [6]
    • These new stones had little effect on Man, but did on the beasts of Althas. Beasts effected by these Stones would slowly become known as Nomshethairos.
  • 305 MA: As the centuries passed, the Tribes grew larger and their societies more complex. This put growing strains on the simplistic Elder system of leadership. [7]
  • 309 MA, The Passing of Losdejim: Losdejim withdrew himself from politics, never to be seen again. A new Diasair named Drioloseb shortly took his place.
  • 325 MA: The creation of the Noralar language and its writing system, with the aid of Drioloseb. [9]
    • Drioloseb declared the first moral doctrines and other teachings (creating The Scriptures).
    • Drioloseb assisted in the founding of the Academies and Temples in the Anointed Capital Cities. [10]
  • 325-345 MA: With Noralar established, the Celestial tongue began to fade out of use. [11]
    • The language of Maelan also came into being around this time as well. [12]
  • 345 MA, The Controversy of Tongues: Although the seven Anointed kingdoms are built and stable, the kingdoms could not agree upon a single tongue.
    • Anorthile, Gorandel, and Narthendar chose to keep their Celestial kingdom names, while the other four Anointed kingdoms chose to abandon their now meaningless Celestial names (Driesefair, Lamniemalos, Nosmalos, and Vishethas).
      • Tension arose between the Kingdoms that kept their original Celestial names and those that took Noralar ones.
      • This was resolved after Drioloseb scolded the Kingdoms holding on to their Celestial names for being prideful.

The New Night Stones and The First War, "The War of Man and Beast"

  • 397 MA: A new Night Stone was created by the Drevril, and was cast towards Narthendar. This one possessed an Avatar that called Nomshethairos to it.
  • 399 MA, The First War ("The War of Man and Beast"): The Nomshethairos descended suddenly upon Narthendar, destroying its capital and slaying King Methandos as he attempted to rally his people out of the heartland.
    • The other Kingdoms came to Narthendar’s aid, led by Methandos’ son Thrandole.
  • 402 MA: The Men of Althas had slain all the Nomshethairos called to Narthendar and destroyed as many of the original Stones in the region that they could find. [13]
    • Thrandole himself was called by the same Stone that called the Nomshethairos to his region. He chose to keep it. [14]
  • 404 MA: Narthendar is restored and rebuilt.
  • 406 MA: People from Sheavob find a new Night Stone as well. This Night Stone's Avatar asked for them to worship it in exchange for secret knowledge of what others were thinking. It fed them lies about their surrounding village neighbors. [15]
    • They attacked Leavrall nearby to them and slaughter their people.
      • King Andorain was furious and seny his men to learn what was happening. This Night Stone forewarned the Sheavob people of Andorain's men.
    • The Sheavob people fled and sail to the currently unexplored islands to the south. [16]

The Interbellum

  • 410 MA: The first discovery of Thalomhavos in Thalomvob. Various groups of breeders moved east to study the possibility of taming these new creatures.
  • 416 MA: Around this time, the Maelan language began to overtake Noralar as the language of the people.
    • Driomi, in Maelan, was referred to as “The One.” The name Driomi would stay as the most renowned to refer to Him.
  • 419 MA: A new naming convention, called Kingsword, is created for the Anointed kings.
  • 420-435 MA: Along the ridge of Voshellas, King Thrandole ordered the building of a new capital for Narthendar: the fortress city of Thovairozil and the hall beneath named Zalothairar.
  • 425 MA: This marked the death of King Andorain, the last of the first Anointed Kings of Althas.

The Second War, “The War of Kings”

  • 445 MA, The Second War ("The War of Kings"): King Thrandole's Night Stone had fully corrupted him. He used its power to enslave his people and launched a sudden attack against Driesefair and Lamniemalos. [17]
    • Driesefair and Lamniemalos were able to effectively push Narthendar's host out of their kingdoms. They called for the aid of the other four Anointed kingdoms of Anorthile, Gorandel, Nosmalos, and Vishethas to counter-attack.
  • Summer 447 MA, The Siege of Thovairozil: The combined hosts of the six Anointed Kingdoms against Narthendar were able to penetrate the fortress city's defenses and occupy the city.
  • Winter 447 MA, Battle of the Abyss: The first assault on Zalothairar. The assault of the combined hosts were unsuccessful, as Thrandole launched a counter-attack with the aid of lesser Nomshethairos. [18]
  • 448-450 MA: The Gates of Anorthile are built in the northern pass of Thavairos.
  • 458 MA, Battle of the Terrible Night: The second assault on Zalothairar. The Anointed were warned by the Diasair Losveshi not to attack Zalothairar yet. Driesefair, Gorandel, and Lamniemalos hosts ignored his advice. The siege was broken by Thrandole’s hosts, with the help of Vrällim within his ranks. [19]
    • Thrandole's hosts pushed out to the other kingdoms. With few men left to defend their homelands, Driesefair, Lamneimalos, and the northern half of Gorandel fell under the darkness.
    • Anorthile heard news of the defeats and closed off the Gates of Anorthile.
    • King Inglore, King Malandor, and King Eldorain were slain in the ensuing battles.
    • Prince Enadar, son of Eldorain, gathered as many as he can to him and continued to fight in Vossôthos in proud defiance. This, however, cut him off from the eastern lands of Gorandel.
    • The Thalomhav tamers of Thalomvob fled into the forests. These agile mounts were used to resist the advances of Thrandole.
  • 459 MA: A large group of people in Lamniemalos boarded twelve large vessels and sailed east beyond Nosmalos. [20]
  • 465 MA, The Glorious March: The final battle against Thrandole. Losnefeth lead the combined hosts of the six Anointed kingdoms against Narthendar (alongside the remaining Kings and Prince Enadar). Thrandole was killed in the battle, and Thovairozil and Zalothairar were destroyed. With Narthendar’s royal line destroyed, the region fell into chaos. [21]

The Northern Interregnum

  • 466 MA: Esomjathi fell under the rule of Hlithfót and his band of brigands. The rest of the regions outside the rule of the three remaining northern kingdoms are in similar discord.
  • 466-473 MA: The kingdoms of Driesefair, Gorandel, and Lamniemalos were slowly rebuilt. They regained control of their outlying regions.
  • 476 MA: Thenoran lead in the overthrow of Hlithfót from Esomjathi. The city was then renamed Mundríce and is declared an independent city-state.
    • Thenoran established a peaceful and just rule over the region surrounding Lake Mundmere.
  • 479-484 MA, Wars of Reclamation: Driesefair, Gorandel, and Lamniemalos reasserted their rule on their frontiers and outskirts.
    • The Thalomhav tamers agreed to rejoin Gorandel if their chief captain, and his line, were made the regional governor of the eastern forest region of Gorandel. King Enadar agreed and the tamers were brought back into the kingdom. However, they began to develop their own traditions and culture as time passed, renaming themselves the Thalom Sebairos.
    • The borders of these three kingdoms are restored to what they were before the Second War.
  • 486 MA, The Interregnum Controversy: King of Anorthile, King Endale, King Enadar, King of Lamniemalos, King of Nosmalos, and King of Vishethas met to discuss Narthendar’s disorder.
    • It was decided that, in the absence of any new line being appointed by the people or the Diasairos, the region should be divided into two protectorate states ruled by Lamniemalos and Driesefair. North Narthendar was ruled by Lamniemalos and South Narthendar was ruled by Driesefair.
    • With the recent independence of Mundríce, it was decided that the city would remain independent as long as its King swore allegiance to the remaining Anointed kingdoms. Thenoran agreed to this arrangement.
  • 507 MA, Death of Thenoran: Thenoran had no heirs, and thus his kingdom was left with no ruler. In his absence, his aged steward chose for Mundríce to become a protectorate of Driesefair. Driesefair accepted this agreement. [22]

The Birth of Magic and the First Chosen

  • 465 MA: After King Thrandole's death, Narthendar (as well as the outlying regions of Gorandel, Lamniemalos, and Driesefair) fell into anarchy.
    • Losjefi was appointed by Driomi as the next Diasair-vil and, upon Driomi's orders, was sent to anoint the Seven Chosen, people who were given the gift of Magic to aid the people. [23]
    • Losjefi, witnessing the suffering in the lawless north, decided in his own wisdom to give the gift of Magic among many people. [24]
  • 470-472 MA, The Prophecy of the Doom of Magic and The Coming of the Guardians: After his disobedience, Losjefi was taken by an Inestasia and shown the problems his disobedience has caused. Losjefi repented and begs for forgiveness; he was made a Diasair-theni for the remainder of his life and was shown a prophecy concerning the fate of magic. [25]
    • Four Aditharos were sent to Althas to guide and oversee magic until the prophecy came to fruition. They would be known as the The Guardians.
  • 480 MA: The Vanguard were formed by the Seven Chosen. They established Hédansael in the mountains of northeastern Gorandel.
    • The Academy in Gorandel officially brought in magic as a subject of study. They made great advances in the subject. Because of their independence and growing secrecy, there was tension between the Academy and The Vanguard.
  • 515 MA: Maelan continued to evolve and change, becoming more like the common Maelan tongue of today. The former version of Maelan became Old Maelan, used primarily for naming (especially in the northern regions). Anointed also adopt their Kingsword names to New Maelan words for use in their names, as it is now the language of the people.

The Jevrethor and The Schism

  • Early 526 MA, The Jevrethor Controversy: The Academy in Gorandel was the first to become aware of najiros that had an intuitive ability to use magic and unique physical traits. They are singled out from the other Najiros and are called jevrethor.
    • They possessed great power at their disposal from the start of their lives, and there were many incidents surrounding them.
    • Gorandel realized both their threat, and also their potential to further expand their kingdom's knowledge of magic. The Gorandi begin to gather or remove them discreetly. [26]
    • The Guardians alert The Vanguard of these secrets being kept in Gorandel.

  • 536-546 MA, The Formation of the Vasomi: An issue arose with the Temple and Academy in Driesefair. Both institutions did not agree with the decision of the King of Driesefair concerning the jevrethor. However, the King threatened to stop supplying royal guards to the Temple and Academy at Ecretei. An emergency council of all the Temples and Academies in Althas was called.
    • The Vasomi was formed. [28]
    • King of Driesefair opposed the idea at first. Both Gorandel and Anorthile agreed that this organization was for the best, since the Temple and Academy were traditionally autonomous. [29]

The Great Tourney

  • 592 MA: The Great Tourney was created to help alleviate tensions between the Anointed Kingdoms. The idea was proposed by Driesefair, but formulated by Gorandel. [30]
  • 621 MA, Duel of Woe: Courian, the brother of the King of Anorthile, was killed by a competing Gorandel warrior, without mercy, in the Champion's Gauntlet.
    • Anorthile demanded that the man be turned over to Anorthile to be questioned concerning what happened, but Gorandel said that the man had vanished.
    • A botched assassination attempt on the King of Anorthile after the Tourney caused outrage in Anorthile as it was assumed that Gorandel ordered the death of the King and his brother.
      • Anorthile and its allies (Nosmalos and Vishethas) declared an embargo on Gorandel and its allies (Driesefair and Lamniemalos).
      • Anorthile readied an army in Thavairos poised to attack Gorandel, and Nosmalos and Vishethas prepared fleets ready to attack Driesefair and Lamniemalos.
  • 621-624 MA: Gorandel secretly contacted The Vanguard and the Vasomi of the Anointed Kingdoms, pleading for their assistance. They insisted that they had no part in whatever plot was planned against Anorthile at The Great Tourney. The Vanguard and the Vasomi and, though with some hesitation, agreed to help so that war could be avoided.
    • The rogue champion who killed Courian was tracked down. He was a jevrethor. [31]
    • The Vanguard helped capture the young jevrethor, who had the goal of bring down the reign of mathusalos. [32]

  • Spring 735 MA: The King of Gorandel called the other Anointed Kings to meet in council. Gorandel expressed remorse for their part in what has happened. The events of the Jevrethor Schism, Ironrend Massacre and Night of Wailing had shaken the people of Gorandel and its allies, and awakened the Kings, to what was happening within their borders.[38]
    • Lamniemalos and the vassals of North and South Narthendar resisted the decision. However, the Council affirmed that jevrethor slavery would be considered just as illegal as any other.
  • Autumn 735: King Fevron was discovered to have jevrethor slaves working in the gem mines in northern Lamniemalos.

  • 736 MA:The Council decided that something had to be done about the governors of the Narthendar vassals. The Vasomi of the Anointed kingdoms and The Vanguard joined together in patrolling the regions to prevent oppression against the jevrethor.

  • 1091 MA: The three Anointed Kings took council concerning the chaos of the northern half of the continent. [84]
    • Given the damaged infrastructure and extensive instability of the northern lands, as well as the weakened state of Anorthile, Nosmalos and Vishethas, the Kings realized that at their present, there was little to no support they could provide.
    • Anorthile reached out to Vrathiro in Vithile Bay, and the two formed a loose alliance.
  • 1100 MA: The Temple and Academy Towers in Thavairos were rebuilt. When the new towers were completed, the three Anointed kings gathered in council there and declared a new age to have begun.
    • The old age has become known as "The Mythical Age" (MA) and the new years are now recorded as "The Years of the Renewed Kingdoms" (RK).

Notes

This section contains footnotes for the Mythical Age section of the Timeline.

The Fall of The Dominion

  1. The proper designation for MA (Mythical Age) was not used until after the start of The Years of the Renewed Kingdoms.
  2. There was no written form, and so oral tradition was the means of information being passed on. Pictures and symbols were also used (to a degree).
  3. Chaos reigned on the borders of the Tribes’ lands.
  4. These wise men were the first leaders among the tribes, but were more teachers than rulers. Losdejim taught them the basics of his teachings and the way to reach the Tribes’ new lands.

The Anointed Kingdoms

  1. The details of the Seven Tribes' settling:
  2. The Night Stones were cast into the northern waters and deep caverns of the northern mountains of Narthendar, so that they may gather strength unnoticed.
  3. Other factors included the lifespans of normal Men were growing shorter as time passed, as well as Losdejim’s impending death. Driomi also foresaw tgat the Drevril were planning and decided the Tribes would need stronger identities and leaders of great power to be ready for the coming troubles.
  4. The Seven Anointed Kingdoms were built under the guidelines set by Losdejim.
  5. Many Celestial words were now given Noralar equivalents, including: Mellendil became known as Driomi, the universe was now known as Ethesh, the world now known as Jevreth and the continent now known as Althas (to name but a few).
  6. The building of the Academy and Temple Towers at Thal Shiath caused the capital to be renamed to Thavairos.
  7. The pure tongue could not be translated into written form and thus fell out of use quickly. Men would soon forget the meanings behind Celestial words.
  8. Old Maelan spread amongst people in the countryside as it was a simpler tongue than Noralar.

The New Night Stones and The First War, "The War of Man and Beast"

  1. Many Nomshethairos escaped though (especially lesser ones), and scattered across Jevreth.
  2. This Night Stone would later be known as the Thrandole Stone.
  3. This Night Stone would later be known as the Basech Stone.
  4. These islands would later be known as the Esheliros Basech.

The Second War, “The War of Kings”

  1. Thrandole begun experiments using his Night Stone and created a Nomshethairos breed based on Men at the onset of the war, which mightily bolstered his numbers.
  2. A long period of small skirmishes, rather than large battles, ensued. This was also the first appearance of Nomshethairos within Thrandole's hosts, under the influence of his Night Stone.
  3. The first appearance of the Vrällim in Althas are seen during this battle, and their ranks only swelled with every passing battle during The War of Kings. They quickly made up a larger number of Thrandole's Nomshethairos host in comparison to the older "wild animal" ones. These particular Nomshethairos were the results of Thrandole's experiments on his enslaved peoples using his Night Stone.
  4. They believed Althas was doomed and sought new lands. These vessels would eventually land on the continent of Dritameshi.
  5. Most of the Nomshethairos in Thrandole's hosts were slain. The remaining wild Nomshethairos fled into the wild, and the remaining Vrällim fled into deep caverns in Voshellas.

The Northern Interregnum

  1. Mundríce was given more autonomy than the other vassals in Althas, including North and South Narthendar.

The Birth of Magic and the First Chosen

  1. The Seven Chosen took vows of chastity, so that their gifts would not pass to future generations.
  2. Some of those who were given the gift of Magic abused their power as well as broke their vows of chastity.
  3. Losjefi prophesied for two years and was then exiled. He roamed the seas and islands around Althas for the remainder of his life.

The Jevrethor and The Schism

  1. Many were brought to Nandorthel to be studied and experimented on, leading to their harsh mistreatment, with or without the knowing of the head of the Temple or the Kings. All of this was kept quiet from The Vanguard and the other Anointed kingdoms.
  2. This began a roughly 200 year period of division between these two groups of kingdoms. There was great tension and little political interaction.
  3. It was decided that, in order to maintain autonomy, the Temples and Academies would have their own protectors and individuals capable of carrying out certain missions.
  4. The formation of the Vasomi would not halt tensions.

The Great Tourney

  1. Driesefair used this event to regain respect with the other kingdoms after its part in the Vasomi incident. A rivalry also quickly built between Gorandel and Anorthile, who often used the event to help gain recognition for their ideas within each other’s borders.
  2. rogue champion learned much in deep Magic, which allowed him to become stronger and faster in his fight against Courian.
  3. They learn that rogue champion escaped a terrible existence at the hands of a cruel governor in a city in northwestern Driesefair. The hatred which the people treated him with from the day of his birth convinced him that he must bring down the reign of mathusalos in order to establish a place for himself and other Jevrethor. His hatred foreshadowed what was to come centuries later.
  4. Despite the pleading of The Vanguard and Vasomi with Gorandel, Gorandel still would not change their policies concerning the Jevrethor. They did, however, try to greatly increase the security of their outposts and keep better track of the happenings throughout the regions.

The Ironrend Massacre and the end of The Schism

  1. Jevrethor in Anorthile, Nosmalos, and Vishethas were usually sent to The Vanguard to be taught and raised, but because the Vanguard’s stronghold was in Gorandel territory, the system suffered many complications.
  2. Unrád, a young and bitter jevrethor who escaped oppression in North Narthendar, was the leader of a group of young jevrethor and rogue najiros (those of which worshipped the jevrethors’ power). He had resolved, like his predecessor from The Duel of Woe, that the only way the jevrethor could exist in Althas was to overthrow the rule of the mathusalos.
    • The escaped jevrethor devastated Ironrend, massacring many of its residents. They stormed southeast and killed any mathusalos they encountered, scattering the people in their wake.
  3. The Jevrethor and najiros of Gorandel were powerful. However, the Jevrethor of Gorandel were very young (some little more than children). Also, most were extremely simple, ignorant and unexposed to the outside world. This innocence was their undoing in the battle. The cries of the young Jevrethor of Gorandel gave the battle the name “The Night of Wailing.”
  4. The heroism of The Vanguard and their sacrifice to save Gorandel and stop the march of the rogue Jevrethor became a great tale of heroism throughout Althas.
  5. Gorandel adopted the philosophy of the Vanguard concerning the Jevrethor and begam working with them and establishing outposts to help fight the small groups that would continue oppressing the Jevrethor regardless of decree.
  6. More would come to join Fevron and help establish the independent realm of Lambitelor.
  7. Despite the healing of the tensions between the Kingdoms, the damage that had been done could not be undone. The reputation of the Jevrethor among the common people had been so severely marred by the Night of Wailing and The Ironrend Massacre that it had not recovered completely even to this day.

The Losjefi Heresy

  1. These doctrines were pro-Magic, drawing in many najiros and Jevrethor (who were considered like "demi-gods"). The people who believed and follow Losjefi were known as Vrolovairos.
  2. After Losvilleth's death, the doctrines were declared heretical. However, Losvilleth's popularity restrained the Temples' and Academys' hands.
  3. The Vrolovairos were divided between the two pupils. While all Vrolovairos were considered heretics, Lositaleth’s people are more tolerated, and Namseshi’s people were more discriminated against (especially as Jevrethor joined them). Many believed they are insurrectionists in disguise.
  4. It was believed that Namseshi's followers reached another land far on the other side of Jevreth (Dritameshi).

The Basech Incident

  1. Instead of recreating the poison, they found a way to create it into a gaseous form (Nemnesheth).
  2. This prevented the Sheäjathi fleet from approaching the islands. As they wanted a simultaneous attack from both fleets, the two fleets waited.
  3. Bodies were found of those who apparently fought in some battle. Their remains laid unburied. The Sheäjathi fleet remained to investigate.
  4. The remnants of the Sheäjathi host pled that the rest had vanished, along with most of their supplies, and that two of their ships were sunk by another strange storm as they tried to escape. The King of Anorthile suspected that this was the work of a Night Stone.

The Night Stone Resurgence

  1. With the Jevrethor now working freely alongside The Vanguard and in Gornadel, great advances were able to be made in Magic.
  2. This search occured after the King of Anorthile suspected that Night Stones survived the War of Kings and were even growing in number. More Night Stones were suspected to be hidden elsewhere.
  3. Given the resurgence of the Night Stones, The Anointed decided to focus on fortifying their hosts and increasing their watch within their own borders.
  4. These western islands were named Esheliros Shûvrall. The King of Gorandel and King of Vishethas also intend to set up outposts and colonies on the islands to assist the Vasomi and Vanguard in seeking out the remaining Night Stones that may be hidden off the mainland.

The Esheliros Shûvrall and the Shûvrall Stone

  1. Lord Bregdan was a secret ally of Lambitelor and shared in that land’s views on magic and especially the [{Lore:Jevrethor|Jevrethor]]. He had several Jevrethor held secretly captive.
  2. Lord Bregdan stole the Stone in order to use its power to control his captive Jevrethor and lead a rebellion to take over all of Narthendar, and help bring the Kings of Lambitelor back to Lamniemalos.
  3. Lord Bregdan went mad, brooding over the Stone’s power. His use of the Stone caused a storm to emerge that sent his ship off course along the northern coast of Narthendar. It sunk somewhere in the Isbrim.
  4. The tribe, one of a few set of Morbearn tribes that migrated to the islands during the The War of Kings, began worshiping the Night Stone.
  5. This apprentice in The Vanguard attempted to use the Neser Theni to look into the future. The vision severely damaged his mind and he stole the Nesar Theni.
  6. Caldaega, previously unknown to the kingdoms of Althas, became known when Staelan spoke with a Morbearn tribe who passed on rumors that Morbearn kinsmen on those islands, who fled there during the War of Kings period, had begun worshiping a dark artifact in recent years.
  7. Staelan planned to send the Night Stone to Gorandel to destroy it. Staelan’s son, Wealcan, much like his grandfather, held a deep hatred for Jevrethor (one of which killed his sister in his youth). He intended to carry out his grandfather’s plan, enslaving the Jevrethor and using them to establish an anti-Jevrethor state similar to Lambitelor in Narthendar and Lamniemalos.

The Plight of the Jevrethor

  1. The Vanguard and Vasomialso sent out agents to search for any Night Stones that may exist in the island nation, beyond The Vanguard and Vasomi’s official reach.
  2. The Shûvrall Stone had yet to be found, and The Vanguard feared the worst.
  3. The Vanguard become suspicious of Folgere. Strange rumors that came out of North Narthendar caused them to redouble their watchfulness over the Narthendar region.
  4. The King of Lambitelor had fed the agents false information for years as he slowly pieced together exactly who they were working for.
  5. Heofon became renowned for consulting with The Guardians more than previous Vanguard leaders.
  6. The Vanguard and Vasomi learned of the discriminating practices of Lambitelor guards and other authorities, which was made legal by the laws set in place after the [[The Naji War. They also learned that the King had personally approved of discriminating views being taught to the people. Jevrethoron Lambitelor were also found to be horribly mistreated in prisons and suffered for crimes they did not commit. This oppression also extended to the common people and how they treated Jevrethor.
  7. The King of Lambitelor only agreed to the removal of discrimination laws and giving up the secrets of Nemnesheth in exchange that The Vanguard and Vasomi stayed silent over Lambitelor's wrongdoings. He also agreed to no longer promote the teaching of discriminating doctrines among the people, and that an agent of both The Vanguard and Vasomi be allowed to remain in Lambitelor in search for any Night Stones on the islands. Heofon objected to this deal under advisement of The Guardians, but it was overruled by The Vanguard Council after a unanimous vote.
While the laws and teachings were removed in Lambitelor, nothing was done to reverse the damage; discrimination still remained as authorities still tended to turn a blind eye to mistreatment of najiros and especially jevrethor. The laws concerning najiros and jevrethor marrying were still in place. This resulted in a continuing and fairly rapid decrease in the number of najiros in Lambitelor, which in turn slowed the production of Nemnesheth.

The Rise of Téafor

  1. The few najiros protecting the capital were quickly disposed of. The century of laws concerning najiros and marriage had left Lambitelor with only a handful of najiros defending their country, and an almost empty reserve of Nemnesheth (which were taken up entirely by prisons).
  2. Panicked by the attack, the guards rushed to evacuate most of the island due to the sudden loss of resources.
  3. Some of the jevrethor vanished into hiding while others surrendered. The realm of Lambitelor was left in shambles: the capital was destroyed, its royal line dead, and its lands severely depopulated.
  4. Many of the najiros in Althas, and also in Teafor's ranks, began to worship the jevrethor as divinely chosen beings.
  5. What Teafor did in Lambitelor was not connected to him. The Vanguard learned of him from the jevrethor that opposed his words of hatred and joined in The Vanguard’s ranks.
    • The Academy at Gorandel began ramping up the development of weapons to use against the jevrethor and their powers out of fear of an uprising.
    • Téafor's agents infiltrated The Vanguard and the Academy at Gorandel.
  6. This book detailed the many accounts of the events surrounding the jevrethor’s history: from the Jevrethor Controversy to the present time of writing. The intent of the work was to show the jevrethor’s side of history, to attempt to gain sympathy for their long plight and hopefully help curb the prejudice among many groups of people towards the jevrethor.
    • Heofon, upon overhearing rumor of Gerád's work when it was being written, offered him the opportunity to use the Nesar Theni. This resulted in the incredible accuracy and reliability in the book's contents.
  7. The Nefethnim had many hidden places of gathering, as they continued to resent Anointed rule. One such upper-echelon Nefethnim of note was Leáfa, a half-Nefethnim who was the widow to the King of Gorandel's deceased brother.
  8. These, along with Téafor himself, would become known as "The Six Sorcerers" in The War of Calamities.
  9. Gerád spoke to the many jevrethor survivors of the events. Two of these survivors were the caretakers of the orphanage where Téafor grew up: Gerád used what he learned to trace Téafor’s life with the Nesar Theni. He then learned that not only was Téafor a survivor of the Fall, but he also caused it and escaped. Gerád finished this volume and gave it to The Vanguard who immediately realized that they could use the Nesar Theni in conjunction with what Gerád has learned to trace Téafor’s history all the way to the present and find his location. This final volume thus became the rarest of The History of the Jevrethor collection.

The War of Calamities

  1. The War of Calamities resulted in the deaths of a great many Magic-users in Althas, jevrethor and najiros alike, including many of the most well-trained and studied ones.
    • The Vanguard returned to find the fortress gutted by fire, many manuscripts destroyed. With their leaders dead, their teachings burnt, and Gorandel in chaos and ruins, The Vanguard essentially dissolved, most leaving for Anorthile.
  2. Much debate continued to this day as to just who Drioshafi was: a Diasair sent in time of need, an Adithar like The Guardians, or perhaps even an appearance of Driomi himself.

The Renewal

  1. Various brigand groups and raiders begzn to dominate the land. Many refugees fled south to Anorthile or by ship to Vishethas and [[Lore:Nosmalos (faction}|Nosmalos]].
  2. Many Thalomhav died in The War of Calamities, along with their riders. The Thalom Sebairos at this time adopted new beliefs concerning The Guardians, the predecessor to their four-part pantheon.
  3. Certain groups, including The House of Joldeseb, felt they were of closer relation than the ones Loschei chose felt slighted. However, with the Kingdom still struggling to rebuild, they put their differences aside for the present.
  4. The violence and chaos in the regions of former Gorandel prevented safe passage to Anorthile for those trying to flee there.
  5. Many legends arose concerning their fate, but the truth was never known for sure.
  6. At about this time, the seven jevrethor and the refugees formed a tribe. The oldest of the jevrethor was the chief, and over time the oldest descendants of the seven formed its leadership.
    • As the descendants' blood became diluted and fewer were born as jevrethor (more similar to najiros), the chief was selected based upon how close in lineage he was to the founding jevrethor.
  7. The regions of former Driesefair, Gorandel, Lamniemalos and Narthendar ware in chaos, with the strategic points of interest swapping hands constantly. They became known collectively as The Feralands.
    • Vithile is also sometimes grouped as part of The Feralands.
